ISO 22005 TRACEABILITY PDF

Globalization and cross-national trade of food products have increased the number of foodborne illness in many countries. Outbreaks of botulism, salmonellosis and listeriosis are considered to be the largest food poisoning outbreaks which cause millions of illnesses, thousands of hospitalizations, and many deaths every year. These food safety and public health concerns push companies to adopt preventive measures for product identification and traceability. Traceability, also known as product tracing, is the ability to track and follow the movement of products throughout the food chain.

Traceability in the Food Chain - ISO 22005:2007

A traceability system is a useful tool for any organisation operating in the agriculture, food and feedstuff chain because it makes it possible to assess particular aspects of a product, e. The aim of the UNI EN ISO standard is to certify foods and feedstuffs as being traceable, in terms of the agricultural and food supply chain and in terms of individual companies. Companies intending to apply for certification of their products as compliant with this standard are required to meet the requirements and fulfil the obligations set out in UNI EN ISO , and to submit the Application for Certification , accompanied by its appendix and to sign the CCPB financial agreement and to sign the Certification Contract , that implies acceptance of the clauses in the Certification Regulations and in its appendix. On receipt of the documentation, CCPB will arrange for an onsite certification inspection of the production sites, after which the relevant committee, whose members represent the parties involved in the certification process, will make a decision, and, if everything is in order, the committee will issue certification, adding the products to the register of certified products. The company will continue to be under the CCPB surveillance programme whose aim is to check that compliance with the standard is being maintained. Accept Read More.
